Divorce (Dissolution of Marriage)

Dissolution of a Marriage can be emotionally and financially draining for both spouses and children if there are children involved. I work with my clients every step of the process to ensure that they understand the judicial process and their legal rights. Divorce involves not only family relationships, child custody issues, child visitation issues but also property rights. Divorce ends the marital relationship and the marital property estate.

Texas is a Community Property State which means that both spouses are entitled to a portion of the assets that were acquired during the marriage. Both spouses are liable for the debts that were incurred during the marriage. Under Texas Law there is a presumption that all assets acquired during the marriage and all debts incurred during the marriage are part of the marital estate.

During each step of the way I will be consulting with you so that you can make informed decisions about your Divorce Proceedings. My goal is to make this process as painless for you as possible and to keep the proceedings as costly as possible. Under Texas Law there are several different options for Divorce Proceedings. There are two Alternative Dispute Resolutions available; Mediation and Collaborative Law. There is also the choice of Litigation for Divorce Proceedings. I will work with you to decide which process is the best for you and your family.
